Pinoy Blogfest 2.0

Social media as an agent for change

05 August 2011, Friday, TriNoma Activity Center
Organized by the 1st tech-lifestyle publication in the country, Gadgets Magazine; for more information, you can check out their website, like their facebook fan page or follow them on twitter.
I was lucky enough to get an invite for the evening part of the program where  prominent social media activists Usec. Manolo L. Quezon and Ms. Gang Badoy of RockEd, who will share their thoughts on these two basic questions:
  1. How can we harness the power of social media for the social good?
  2. Can bloggers become positive change agents through social networking?
I took snapshots of the 2 speakers during the event. There are so many things I have learned, the ones that stuck were probably; to have a sense of awareness of the world around you, to make a statement (and own it) because what we blog about today can be recorded as historical references for our future heroes.
Let me also share that I was 'unfortunately, fortunate' to win the raffle, but sadly I was not there anymore to claim my prize since I was having dinner that time. (somebody deserves it more, I guess) but still, I enjoyed listening to the speakers on developing a more responsible blogger- the purpose of the event after all. ;)

Sure, the weekend could be a letdown, it could turn out to be just another endless series ... The People You Will Fall In Love With In Your 20s | Thought Catalog Just sharing this blog post. And for the record, I'm part of the NBSB community (No Boyfriend Since Birth) - a product of the practicality of finishing College first and the happy-ever-afters of Disney and the romance novels and Classic Pinoy Teleseryes... And a huge part of it is, being uncertain of my maturity level to take care of one-on-one relationships, place somebody else's needs above my own. As a hopeless romantic with a childlike disposition, I truly believe in the last paragraph of this post, that although we encounter different people everyday, but I know someday, it will be clear that someone out there is truly meant for us, aka The One. Lucky for those who have found it earlier, ...

Save Baguio Pine Trees

I have been to Baguio City, twice in my life. The first trip was ten years ago when I was 12. And just recently, last February for the Panagbenga Festival. And because of its cold weather and abundance of strawberries, peanut brittle and choco flakes, not to mention wearing 'Winter Wardrobe' (knitted sweaters, berets, etc.) and most importantly, the picturesque mountain views with towering pine trees, I have come to love the place. So it is only right that I dedicate an artwork for the City of Pines, the summer capital of the Philippines. I may not be an environmentalist holding a picket along with the locals, but this I guess is the best I can do as an artist - to inspire people that the beautiful riches of our country is in our natural resources, we must take good care of it, as stewards of God's creation. I thank you. :)
