Design Para Sa Lahat

My last week of July (24-30) was fully booked with special events here and there... I must agree that the world is a bigger school, you have to take everything as a fun learning experience like a sponge, especially now that I'm beginning a long and interesting career in the creative world of Advertising Design ;) Art at the Shang 2011 I was able to attend the last day of the exhibit with two of my bestfriends since pre-school. And coincidentally most of the artworks there have subjects that show the joy of youth, color and life. I'm happy that in a way, I got them interested in trying out a hobby in painting :D Philippine STAR's 25th Anniversary 25 years is how long we are enjoying our Freedom of Speech & Truth in the Media (and also in Advertising) One of the perks in working in an ad agency, is getting invited to major, major media events like this (we're awarded one of Top 25 agencies)  Highlight of the night was my winning shot with FVR. ;)

Picture Perfect in Pink

Pretty Pink Stuffs from   teammanilalifestyle  (For Sale: Phone Pouch, Tote Bag, Lomography Diana Mini, Messenger Bag, Expandable Clutch, Leather Camera Bag, Flat Pouch, Canvas Camera Strap) Just sharing a photo of me with a Giant Pink SLR Mock-up at Duty Free I'm such a s ucker for pink gadgets!  Obviously, my favorite color is pink, since birth (I think) I took up Fine Arts in college, which included Photography as part of our curriculum that is why it was a necessity for me to own a DSLR. Sadly, I don't bring it with me as much, considering it's bulky (although not as huge as pictured) :)) Needless to say, that this Diana Mini from Team Manila is my best bet, it costs about PhP 3,450 (I guess it's not bad, considering DSLRs cost 10x more) Plus there is lesser need to post-process images.  I've also been advised by several photography enthusiasts to go ahead and try Lomo Photography. As  Wikipedia  explains,  Lomography  emphasizes casual, snapshot

CREATEvents

It's about time for me to start taking my work and 'artsy' hobbies to the next level...  Just to share what I do everyday, I work as a Graphic Artist from Monday to Friday, and when I have spare time I also blog. So basically, I need to refuel my creative juices!  And the good news is there are so many events in and around the Metro, dedicated for both the artists and the art-lovers, this July and August... Art at the Shang 2011 is an ongoing exhibit participated by different artists that comprise the Saturday Group. It runs from July 16 to 24, held at the Grand Atrium at Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City. I remember during one of my painting classes when we were required to visit the Saturday Group exhibit so we can get inspiration from the works of the artists, but I had thesis back then, now there's no stopping me! I can finally take my time to enjoy the exhibit. :) Graphika Manila is now on its 6th year in bringing together the 'creative people,

Breakaway (LSS of the day)

@WishfulSayings   The 3 C's of life; Choice, Chance, Change. You must make the Choice to take the Chance if you want anything to Change.  I guess this is just me, being sentimental. I love those songs where the lyrics say how you exactly feel at the moment. "Breakaway" for me, is like a dreamer's anthem . It's full of hope, it's positive, and it motivates you to keep going on in this journey called life. (and it is also perfect for Bro. Bo's Soulfood for today ) Choose to Dream (and choose your dreams wisely) “You need to know your dream, define your dream, and pursue your dream. You need to have a firm grip on your dream—to eat, talk, walk, and sleep with your dream. I believe that if you don’t seek your dream with fierce commitment, your dreams won’t come true --  At a certain point, after  seeking  your dream, you need to  surrender  your dream to God... Take a Chance in God's Perfect Timing ... Surrender means trusting that God has the best

The Potter Generation :)

"Warner Bros estimates that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 took in $A157.75 million domestically from Friday to Sunday. That beats the previous best opening weekend of $A148.2 million, also held by Warner Bros for 2008's Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight."  Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is the eighth and final film adapted from JK Rowling's seven novels about the young wizard's indoctrination into a secret world of sorcery and his epic battles with evil conjurer Voldemort.  Cast more than a decade ago at ages 10 and 11 as Harry and his pals Hermione and Ron, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint became instant celebrities. ( theaustralian.com.au ) I belong to the "Potter Generation." I was only 11 when the first movie came out back in 2001, and back then, my old school would prohibit us from bringing copies of the first 4 books in our mini-library as it talks about magic spells & vengeance. 10 years, 7 books and 8 movies later,

My Own Hogwarts

That awkward moment when UST Main Building is like Hogwarts. buhayuste : I reblogged this post from Tumblr, again. Today, I am anticipating to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,  and at the same time,  missing my old school, even if that body of water is  actually floodwater. Sometimes I imagine if the staircases would also move. lol. I may not have a wand to do magic but in my stay there, it felt magical...  :">

OTH playlist = HS memories

redbedroomsounds : @OTHquote   "Someone once told me, every song has an ending, but is that any reason not to enjoy the music?"   # OneTreeHill Before there were Glee and Gossip Girl, I first fell in love with One Tree Hill way back in 2004. And whenever I want to take a trip back to those moments of my life, I put my earphones on and listen to the soundtrack of this series, especially the album Peyton collaborated for her mom Ellie, 'Friends with Benefit.' I think I am a rocker (by heart) and I would always sing 'Halo' in the shower! Or whenever I try to keep myself calm, I listen to 'Feeling a Moment,' 'Always Love' and 'Be Yourself.' It's true that OTH will never be the same with Leyton out of the picture (though I'm still hoping they get to guest in s9) but one thing is certain, the music (along with all the memories) will live on. :')

Online Social Networking +

It had been a daily routine for many to update their statuses, to post photos and videos, to let their friends know where they are and at the same time, to stay posted on latest happenings in and around their social circle ...and it can be quite addicting to some, which can lead one in becoming a narcissist, a stalker or developing some sort of ADHD. Kidding aside, there is a newcomer which is developed by the social engine giant, Google which is the  Google+ project  which offers Real-life sharing, rethought for the web. According to their  website , the Google+ project is still  testing with a small number of people, but it won't be long before it will be ready for everyone. It has been reported on   FoxNews.com  that Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook founder) is listed as the most followed user on Google+ with a whopping 29,543 followers, according to  SocialStatistics.com . Beating out both Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who come in at second and fourth with 19,878 and

Traveling on a Bad Weather

Metro Manila is expecting heavy rainfall again - well, every year it does! And whether you like it or not, you still have to travel, ride public transport, or drive your favorite car. So,  metromaniladirections.com  came up with ten tips which can pretty much help you prepare for traveling during the rainy season. image source:  rainloveonmanila.blogspot.com 1. The Golden Rule: Do not go out if there's really no reason to go out. Cancel or postpone your event for the day in case the weather is really bad. The phrase "rain check" was not invented for nothing.  2. Having a small umbrella inside your bag is better than having none. It does not matter if that is just the cheap 50-peso umbrella that you bought from the peddlers at the MRT station. Always have one in your bag. 3. Bring a plastic bag with you always. If it's really raining very hard, put your bag inside the plastic bag. This makes your bag or any belongings waterproof. 4. Avoid wading through floodwate

Business&Leisure

"That's what this weekend is about. Not regretting our pasts but appreciating everything we've got now. Great friends, great memories." ~Lucas Scott ( 1TreeHillQuotes   on Twitter) Secondhand Serenade? Well, we've been planning for so long to sell our 'mountains of old clothes' in order to make room for what we're still using. Surprisingly, I'm getting bigger since some of my clothes won't fit me as nicely as they used to about 2 years ago. That was also the case of my sisters, but then some of the 'hand-me-downs' don't fit me as well so they're also part of our  'ukay-ukay.'  But the most surprising part, people actually bought them; for instance, someone actually got my blouse for P80! The total earnings for one day is (drumroll please) P1,800-- which goes to prove that,  "one man's trash is another person's treasure." Relax. See a movie.  Go on a Movie Marathon! Last Saturday, my sisters and I tri

Jetsetter Fashion (in the Movies)

More than a good plot, what I enjoy about movies, are the characters who look their part. And since I am still 'jet-lagged' on the lovely dresses I've seen yesterday in the chick flicks: Eat, Pray, Love and Monte Carlo; I have dedicated my energies into assembling looks on Polyvore and writing about dressing up on travel by taking cues from Liz Gilbert & Meg Kelly. I find it really nice that her wardrobe adapts to the setting, you can distinguish one country from another, it's like showing how Liz has immersed herself to each culture. Among the three lead actresses in Monte Carlo, I would see myself wearing pieces from Leighton's character. She is the most practical, staying true to travelling light and looking great on the camera, without having to sacrifice comfort. And my favorite piece of advice when it comes to dressing up for yourself is to add your own unique sense of style. So the equation to sum this post up is Culture + Comfort + Creativity = J
